A pregnancy update. My nausea has stopped and my energy is returning. I also had my first ultrasound today.

Looking at the ultrasound picture, I have come to the conclusion that I'm the proud mother of a gray, amorphous blob. Take a look. What do you think? Does it have my eyes? Here's a hint for those who have never looked at a blurry ultrasound before: the baby is the small kidney-shaped gray blob at the top of the large black space.

But that beautiful blob has a head and a heartbeat! I even got to listen to my baby's heartbeat -- it was the most wonderful sound I had ever heard. I wept in the ultrasound room. My baby is alive, alive! Now that they can detect a heartbeat, they say that I am 97% likely to make it through the rest of the term!! God, I feel so relieved. It's real this time. I'll really make it.

According to the Ultrasound measurements, I'm between 8-9 weeks and will be due December 31st or January 1st. I know which one I'm voting for. Millenium baby? No, I'd rather have the tax deduction.

Hmm
