June 4, 1999

Well, I've talked with about ten parents about my fears & neuroses, and most of them had the good grace not to laugh in my face. Everyone told me that nothing works out as planned. And actually, I am incredibly lucky. A dream is coming true for me. I am pregnant, and the baby is healthy! I have a spouse who loves me, and a whole bunch of viable options. I can stay home with the baby. Great. I can go back to work. Great. Who gives a damn about plans? I'll decide when I get there.

The big thing that I need to do now is concentrate on my writing, and my relationship with my husband. If I really push at it, I can finish the novel before the baby arrives and start sending it out. Who knows? Maybe I'll be able to carve a new career for myself as a professional writer.

Hmm
