Really Hot Exhibitionist Babes Or Cranking Out the Hits
December 16, 2000
This is going to be a very self-indulgent post. Yes, I'm going to rant about web journaling in my web journal. You have been warned.
I did something today that no web journalist should do. I looked up the hit statistics on my web site. This activity ranks right up there with trying to discern an editor's assessment of your worth as a human being from a rejection letter. It is both fascinating, and a complete waste of time.
Geocities provides a host of features to help me analyze the hits that occur on my website. There is the "page views" feature that tells me how many hits my site receives day-by-day or month-by-month. Not too surprisingly, my site got thousands of hits in June and July -- most of those on my Clarion Journals Online page. However during the rest of the year, I get only a few scattered hits.
Then I joined Web Rats, and got another spike in popularity. There have been some 200 hits on my home page since I joined the rats a few days ago. Not a lot, but not bad, either. Checking site statistics again, I discover that there is a handy-dandy "Referrer" feature that tells me how users are accessing my site. 40% came directly from the Web Rats page. 10% followed a link from Trey's page, and another ten percent followed a link from Jenn's journal. The rest were referrals from my other pages, or "unknown."
Why am I obsessing about this? Well, with 200 hits, some must be from readers that I don't know about yet. Who are you? Send me e-mail. Sign my guestbook. And if it was a long time since you signed it, go ahead and sign it again! If you are reading this, you are part of a very small and somewhat elite group. I'd love to know who each and everyone of you are. People who do web journals on some level crave an audience. We're closet exhibitionists.
And speaking of "exhibitionists", do you realize that the number one keyword that leads people to my web site is "exhibitionist?" I looked on my website, trying to figure this one out. How often have I used this term, anyway? Is it anywhere on this page, other than in this entry, right now? I'm feeling a powerful desire to tweak some search engines. Smut! Spanking! Hot Teenage Sex Sluts! Hey, the hits should start rolling in any moment now…

In other news, Cassie's vocabulary grows daily and she has begun to stand (but not yet walk) without holding on to anything. Here are some pictures (taken at World Con and finally downloaded from the web cam) of my favorite exhibitionist babe.
Some people may view those pictures as excessively cute. They're right.
