Dragons
The dragons are a primal force said to have existed before the universe was created. They are at once a part of time and space, and yet somehow beyond such notions.
Although they can take many forms, being only a marginally four dimensional creature (some sources have suggested that they actually inhabit all dimensions simultaneously), they generally appear, when they choose to interact, as either humanoid figures, or a variant of the traditional winged dragon of legend.
Once, it was said that the dragons could weave time and space around themselves, moving wherever and whenever they chose to. In these latter days, however, their abilities have been greatly reduced - some have said, as a result of some terrible redefinition.
Only four have been known to interfere with human affairs to any great degree. These are:
The "blue" dragon said to have accompanied Merlin on his travels, and later the bard Gwion. Said to have vanished on Breceliande.
The "red" dragon, whose pyrotechnic arrivals earned him the name "Delbâeth", the "Shape of Fire".
"Lailoken" the white, who travelled for a time with the sorcerer Blaise, Merlin's tutor, and who's struggle with Delbâeth led to Merlin's first recorded prophecy.
"Yggdrasil", the Heart of the World, or The World Tree, who having settled now takes the form of an enormous ash tree which spans thirteen separate dimensions.
