Nine Lives

Edited by Helen Fayle and Sue Cox

A collection of Stories sold in support of the St. Francis Hospice for Chronically Sick and Terminally Ill Cats.

The St Francis Hospice began in a very small way with the odd cat who was too old or infirm to be re-homeable being fostered by the Maynards in their own home, for whatever time remained to them. Then, as the numbers of elderly cats, and cats with chronic or even terminal medical conditions grew, the Maynards made the decision to turn their home into a hospice catering exclusively to the special needs of these cats.

Regular home visits by the veterinary surgeon who cares for the Hospice ensure that the cats receive all the medical treatment necessary to improve the quality of whatever span is left to them, and this, plus the love and comfort and constant day to day care of Shirley and Michael has resulted in many of these cats living far beyond first expectations.

To see these cats so obviously contented and well cared for in their home environment, and to see the bonds they have formed with each other and with the Maynards is a truly heart warming experience. Visitors, too, are greeted enthusiastically by the feline residents in search of a warm lap to curl up on!

No needy cat is refused a place at the Hospice, but while the compassion of the Maynards for these unfortunate cats seems to be bottomless, sadly the funds necessary to maintain the high standard of veterinary care, plus special diets, are not.

As you can imagine, this is an expensive task, and so to raise funds for the Hospice, we have collected stories from authors around the world into a small anthology, all profits from which will go to support the hospice.

"Nine Lives" is An A5 sized collection, wire bound with a black and white laminated cover, containing stories by:
