Jack Haldeman: Arctic Links
arctic links

As a child, I grew up in Alaska. Although I've lived in Florida now for more than twenty years, the Arctic still holds a special fascination for me. In college I did field work in the Canadian Arctic and the ruggedness of the land and the people who live in the far north occasionally finds voice in my fiction.

Inuvik was our home base when I was doing field work in the Mackenzie River Delta for Johns Hopkins. Bart Kreps has some great photographs of the area. Besides trying to stay alive during floods and storms, we studied parasites of snow geese and the beluga. I'll be wriring about it in this section.
