Besides having the extreme good fortune to be married to the wonderful and talented Canadian science fiction writer, Barbara Delaplace, I have other long-term roots in that Land Up North. When I was a kid living in Alaska, we drove the Alcan Highway every summer. Years later, I worked up there for Johns Hopkins University, living out of boats and tents 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle. There are many things Canadian that I love.
