Selected Home Pages
Kyle Petty -- Pony tail, pierced ears and a killer grin. I don't think the NASCAR establishment knows what to do with him. Me, I root for him.
Dale Jarrett -- Maybe it's the daddy in me, but I got all choked up when Ned called his son's first Daytona victory.
Jeff Gordon -- Good-looking, rich, successful, beautiful wife. For all these reasons, fans seem to love him or hate him.
Dale Earnhart -- Like Jeff, they love him or hate him. He comes across as one of the last of the tough guys. New site coming soon.
Mark Martin -- Hard-working professional. I like to watch Mark drive.
Darrell Waltrip -- Give him good eqipment and he's there. His enjoyment is infectious.
Derrike Cope -- Derrike sat in front of me once on a flight out west. He and his crew were pumped, and by the time the plane landed, all us passengers were fans of his.
Johnny Benson -- Quiet and articulate. He'll keep moving up.
Buckshot Jones -- What a great name for a driver!
Dale Earnhardt Jr. -- As the year goes one, he's been showing a lot of class.
Matt Kenseth -- He's got all the moves. It won't take him long.
Patty Moise -- Busch driver, has made a couple of Winston Cup starts. The sport needs more women drivers. I can't believe the sponsors don't understand the demographics of stock car racing: half the fans are women.
Kat Teasdale -- Another woman starting out in Busch. Canadian, you know. She has a solid racing background.

Del Worsham -- Finally in the 4's. Del's young, but he's been racing all his life. I know someone in his crew, so I get to hang around when they're in Gainesville. Good, hard-working group.
Eddie Hill -- A role model for all us old farts. Their poodle is named Hot Dog. (also here)
Shelly Anderson -- Top fuel, grew up in a racing family.
Randy Anderson -- Shelly's brother. Drives a Funny Car..
Shirley Muldowney -- One of the best. She still races IHRA.
John Force is an institution, but he's worked like hell to get there and puts on a great show. I've seen him out there standing in the dark signing autographs for the fans after almost everyone else has packed up and gone.
Rhonda Hartman -- Making a mark for herself in Top Fuel.
Cristen Powell -- After a Top Fuel stint, Cristen is blasting down the track in the JCIT Funny Car.
Cruz,
Tony, and Frank
Pendregon are three brothers who race at the top level of Funny Cars. I always point at auto racing when people ask me how come my brother and I are both writers: some things get in your blood.
Other Motor Sports
Sebring International Raceway -- If I can, I like to take a long weekend for this one and camp at Highlands Hammock. Gators and tree frogs and fast cars. Great fun.
Sports Car Club of America
Ocala Speedway Small, 3/8 mile track just south of me. Worth a click to check out their rules.
