Welcome! Since you've found my site, I assume you
are familiar with my fantasy novel, The High House,
and its sequel, The False House. Besides being a
writer, I love to read mythology and fantasy and
anything else for which I have the time. I also enjoy
playing the guitar and writing songs, and am a full-
time instructor in Music Recording and Engineering.
My first short story, The Perfect Day, appeared in
Amazing stories magazine around 1985, under the
pseudonym of James Turpin. Shortly thereafter, I
stopped writing for about seven years to pursue a
career in music, and returned to my word processor
in the early 90's. I live in West Texas with my wife
Kathryn. We have a son and a daughter.

Since I'm also a musician and recording engineer, I've created an MP3 file of
a dramatic reading (including original music) of a short portion from The
High House. If you want to hear it, click on the link to Green Man Review
and it should play for you.

Not too long ago, I had the opportunity to work with a class of college
graphic arts students, who read The High House and created
illustrations for it. With their permission, I have scattered their work
throughout the website. Their cover illustrations can be found in the
Student Art link to the left. I have several other illustrations I would like
to add when I have the time.
