I had two short stories appear in the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, The Star to Every
Wandering Barque, in the Oct/Nov 2007 issue, and The First Editions, in the April 2008 issue. These
stories, along with my Evenmere short story, The Star Watch, and my non-Evenmere story, The Battle
of York, will be available as downloads at EReader.com by purchasing the digital version of the
issues. The Star Watch appeared in the January 2002 issue; The Battle of York, in the July 2004
issue.

Some time ago I began a labor of love, attempting to rewrite William Hope Hodgson's fantasy masterpiece,
The Night Land, converting its rather difficult language into a more readable text. Chapter Two of my rewrite
was published in the anthology: Night Lands: Eternal Love, edited by Andy Robertson, under the title "The
Testament of Andros." The text of the book can be found online by clicking

The Battle of York was also chosen to appear in the anthology: "The Year's Best SF 10, edited by
David G. Hartwell. The paperback is available through any major book store.
I was recently asked to write an essay for an anthology devoted to editor and writer Lin Carter. Should
that be of interest to you, you can order it by clicking below and doing a search. The name of the book
is "Lin Carter, Apostle of Letters."
I receive a number of letters asking when I will be publishing another book. I deeply appreciate all
those who have written. I do try to personally answer every letter, though I am, regrettably, sometimes
two or three months behind. It's gratifying to learn that Evenmere has touched some readers in a
special way. So, you may ask, why haven't I written another book? What am I doing with my time? I
do teach full-time, but I try to write nearly every day. I've completed several short stories. I have
finished my re-write of William Hope Hodgson's Night Land, (see below) which is making its slow way
from publisher to publisher. I spent the last three years writing a fantasy novel with a strong
mainstream/literary component. Such projects, which fall outside the "standard" notion of what
editors and agents look for, often take some time to find a publisher.

However, this summer (2008) I have turned back to Evenmere, and am writing the third volume,
tentatively titled The Winking House. I'm really enjoying the work, traipsing down the old halls, the
scent of wood and oil, the sounds of dinosaur footsteps overhead.

I would like to ask your help in this. Both The High House and The False House are now out of print.
Sometimes, when publishers are trying to decide whether to publish a sequel, they look at the
Amazon reviews. If you have time to post a favorable review of these two books, especially False
House, which has few reviews, it might help see the third book into print. Twenty or thirty extra
reviews on Amazon can make a difference. Thanks.
