This book has great depth and wonderful
characters. Readers of many genres would enjoy this book. Few Fantasy books published today give readers a sense of wonder. This book certainly does. I think The High House will become a Fantasy classic in years to come, joining Tolkien and many others.
---Debbie Ledesma, Suite101.com
Without question, The High House is one of my
favorite books of the year, as much for reminding me what it was that I loved about fantasy novels in the first place as for its own merits.
--Charles DeLint, The Magazine of Fantasy and
Science Fiction
Stoddard tells a thrilling story that features not
only a unique and powerful family but a magnificent edifice filled with mysterious doors and passageways that link kingdoms and unite the universe. Publishers Weekly
... may be the genre's novel of the year. Harriet

... one can almost hear the boards creaking
underfoot, or smell the dust and cobwebs in the abandoned rooms...Victoria Strauss
...a high fantasy with intelligence and literary
power...
Realms of Fantasy
Here's someone who remembers what fantasy
was before it was turned into product. . . Stoddard "has the voice" that good fantasy requires and can certainly hear the music.
--Darrell Schweitzer Aboriginal Science Fiction
There are magical, mythical, philosophical and
psychological details galore in The High House. It has been very carefully crafted as an example of what is still great about the high traditions of the fantasy genre, and all without any taint of "Tolkien- clone" activity. Stoddard is obviously a grown-up with his own ideas, who can handle the matter of myth in original fashion.
--Jeannine Gehrman
....I for one was spellbound throughout.
--Ariel Waterstone's Booksellers Reviews
....an exceedingly impressive first novel.
Carolyn Cushman Locus Magazine
I anticipate Mr. Stoddard will be ranked with
Tolkien and Lewis before his career is through if he keeps up this quality.

THE FALSE HOUSE
This is one of those unputdownable reads that
comes along only once in a blue moon.... James Stoddard is a major talent and The False House deserves to transcend the genre and become a future classic.
--Guy Haley SFX Magazine
These books are recommended to all readers who
enjoyed C.S. Lewis's Narnia books or lamented the passing of the Ballantine Adult Fantasy series.
--Cynthia Ward, Amazon Editorial Reviews
Sound impressive? The False House is. As
impressive as the first. . .
