I have mixed feelings about this one. A big plus for having the lead character in a pro-space story not a white male of Scottish decent, but an inner city Hispanic. I'm not sure I buy the character psychologically, but I am impressed at the attempt within the environment of a traditional Analog story. A demerit because it still is an standard Analog story, complete with a section of nutz-n-boltz Engineering Suspense -- this time it is will the mechanism fall from crane? Flynn has done much better (see "Melodies of the Heart" for proof).

A short joke, in the venerable "Probability Zero" mode: a riff on that old Fortian "we are property" saw.
