Okay, so I'm a little late. I'm also going to have to make this review shorter than I'd hoped. Suffice to say, Carolyn and I headed down to San Mateo's "furry con" with absolutely no idea what we were walking into. People running around in furry costumes, lots of swishing tails, people with pet fetishes...it was all that and ever so much wonderful more.
Further Confusion had all the charm and enthusiastic appreciation of the "old" SF/F cons. The audiences were bright, curious and eager to understand the creative process. The art show was . . . enlightening . . . and the laughter . . . oh, the laughter.
But if you really want to get a feel for this group, just click on their name at the top of this page and check out their website. Each year, it's totally different, always creative, always fun. If their website doesn't convince you to go if you're in the area, nothing I can say will.
Here are just a few of the delightful images
I have for my scrapbook...
I'd really appreciate it
if any FC graduates could send me names and info on any of these. I'd love to
give credit where it's so deserved.

From
the costume competition. A fabulous bat...complete with glowing eyes and swishing
wings.

A
most attentive judge awaits the Costume Competition.

A
very earnest Grizzer protecting his honey stash from his Costumed Competitors.

One
of the next gen of fandom plays with the "Sobriety Test" of the current
gen. The "Sobriety Test" is this really weird donut of goo I picked
up at the airport that's impossible to hold onto if you're...well...This
young lad showed us all up.

One
of the truly outstanding costumes at the con. Looks just like a real human
being, doesn't he? (Hi, Trace!)

full-body shot...
Well...wish I had time for more, but life goes on and I've got to get to the rest of the page. Thanks for a wonderful time, all you warm and fuzzy types down in San Mateo.
