Having seen (and loved) the movies, I decided it was time to read these books. While I'm still not what you'd call a born again Tolkienite, I'm finding the experience quite fascinating. I'm trying hard to reconcile my two very different reactions, and in hopes someone else might find it interesting have included those thoughts here.
