In LANDMARKED FOR MURDER edited by Harley Jane Kozak, Michael Mallory and Nathan Walpow, look for "It Doesn't Take a Genius" by Kate Thornton

Excerpt:  "You'd think having a job at Caltech would make me smart, but that's not how it works.  There are plenty of regular people working here, average folks like you and me who do average jobs in departments like Finance and Administration.  Sure, we all get to see people like Stephen Hawking and Kip Thorne once in a while – after all it is the California Institute of Technology - but only the students and the faculty are really smart.  Everyone else is practically invisible."

This fabulous collection of murder mysteries written by Los Angeles authors and set at famous Southern California landmarks is a must-read.  And you know the Landmarks – you've seen them in the movies…

In MURDER ON SUNSET BOULEVARD edited by Rochelle Krich, Michael Mallory and Lisa Seidman, look for "TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARITA" by Kate Thornton

Excerpt:   "Welcome to A Star is Born Again," the clerk said as I inched my way past a display of fifties halter dresses in Hawaiian prints. I had my eye on a pair of high-heeled turquoise mules I'd seen in the window a few days before, but I did a double take at the clerk's ensemble. It was tasteful and subdued, maybe the sort of outfit Sister Mary Corita at Immaculate Heart might have sported just before they dropped the habit requirement altogether, but it was still a nun's habit.

"Thank you," I murmured. A nun's habit is one of the more difficult drag looks to pull off properly, as you can't use makeup or rely on wigs or flashy clothes. I should know - I'm a fairly successful entertainer myself, a headliner at the Cage, although I was doing my shopping in my street clothes of jeans and a tee shirt. I never wear drag on the street.

Don't miss this fabulous collection of murder mysteries written by Los Angeles authors and set along that famous stretch of the imagination, Sunset Boulevard.

In A DEADLY DOZEN edited by Susan Casmier, Cynthia Lawrence and Aljean Harmetz, look for "Ai Witness" by Kate Thornton for a delicious romp through sushi and murder.
