Deadline 15 Dec 2000. No E-mail subm. or reprints.] James Lowder Legends of the Pendragon 15120 West Mayflower Court New Berlin, WI 53151 Queries to gawain@execpc.com =Legends of the Pendragon= is an anthology of original Arthurian short fiction set for release by Green Knight Publishing in August 2001. It is a follow-up--a prequel, actually--to =The Doom of Camelot= (due for release in August 2000). You should review =Doom= before submitting to the new book. All works submitted for the collection should be set in the Arthurian milieu, any time before Arthur's marriage to Guenevere. The stories can center on Uther Pendragon, Vortigern, or any of the other pre-Camelot characters described in Geoffrey of Monmouth's ==History of the Kings of Britain= or other traditional Arthurian sources or fiction. I am especially interested in works about the knights and ladies who later appear as part of the Court; note, though, that these stories should focus on them before they come to Camelot. Works can involve Arthur becoming king, but should not introduce the concept of the Round Table (our anthology for 2002, The Birth of Camelot, will deal with the building of the capital and the initiation of the brotherhood of the Round Table). In terms of theme, I most want to see stories that explore how events make Britain or specific characters ready for the coming of Arthur and Camelot. A range of tones will be considered, though the general theme is more conducive to serious works. We will consider longer poetry in addition to prose. For our previous anthology, we received too many stories written in first person; please submit first-person work only if the story can be told in no other way. We are not considering reprints for this collection. The nitty-gritty: Length: 3,000 to 7,000 words. May consider longer or shorter works with prior approval. Deadline: Friday, December 15th, 2000. Rights: 1st world in English Payment: 3 to 5 cents/word. Paid within 30 days of acceptance. Send hardcopy submissions to James Lowder, Legends of the Pendragon, 15120 West Mayflower Court, New Berlin, WI 53151 No e-mail submissions, please. Queries by e-mail to James Lowder at gawain@execpc.com [sff.publishing.market-reports 18 June 2000] CONTESTS =Eighth Annual Garden State Horror Writers Short Story Contest= [Contest, H/SF/F/genre to 2500 wds., themed. $50 1st prize, $25 2nd prize, $15 3rd prize. $10.00 entry fee. CULT FOLLOWING Timberwolf's prototype book and series, S Small Percentage (ISBN: 0-9653210-0-2) was the world's first Internet Audio-book. It quickly developed a rabid fan-base around the globe. One listener from Australia commented that the series "kept him on the edge of his computer." Consistently in the top 5 audio-books on Yahoo! Broadcast, the title remains one of the all-time most-listened-to Internet audio books in history. BACKGROUND Timberwolf Press founder Patrick Seaman was the first person hired by the founders of broadcast.com (now, Yahoo! Broadcast). Patrick helped develop technology and negotiate major media contracts as Director of Technology and later Vice President of International Development & Special Projects as well as serving on the Board of Directors of broadcast.com Japan. After four years of launching broadcast.com, Patrick aided in the transition during Yahoo!'s $5.4 billion acquisition of the company. At that point, Patrick decided to use the technology he pioneered to pursue his true passion, which is writing and publishing.
