Ideas For Arms

As mentioned back in September A.S. XIII, WAR was declared between the (then) shire of am Mor Salann Fasach and her neighbor, the Barony of Caerthe. So in April of A.S. XIII members of the Barony of am Mor Salann Fasach and their allies set off for Jericho Sand Dunes to meet the Caerthan forces.

Populace at court. Sister Scholastica (Leah de Spencer) just right of the pole. In front of her, Donella Chameleon. Kneeling in front of Donella is Sir Mika Longbow. Standing, behind the fellow next to Mika, in the black gown, is Briony of Windermere. Two right of Briony, in white wimple and bronze gown, is Yelisveta Katlin Savrasova. I believe that's Avram the Jew to her right. |

| Lady Jerilyn of Vert Silva and I spent several months at fighter practice learning to fight in a shield wall. We figured if this war was to see if Caerthe got to drag us off to their barony, we ought to at least fight for ourselves! You can see our armor is very advanced--carpet and duct tape, and most of the rest is borrowed. |

Am Mor Salann Fasach shield wall begins to form up. The short one in the middle is Lady Jerilyn. That might be Thorad behind her and Ferris to her right. Sir Robert's back to the left. |
More of our shield wall. Lady Rhonwen has Michael the Lucky's shield. Is that William Gallowglass to her left? |

| More shield wall. (Hey, you fighters, help me name all these people. I know Charles of Galway and Thorad Bjorgsson.) |

More during the battle. (That's Charles of Galway dead at the bottom of the picture.) |
| Most of what I remember from the fighting is dying almost immediately and then being VERY glad I was in a sandy place and had a very large shield. I managed to fall under the shield, and then both armies (it felt like) fought back and forth on top of me. The sand cushioned me fairly well. If you're going to die in war and live to tell the tale, a sand dune is a good place to do it. All I had to worry about when it was all over was the huge amount of sand in my clothing. |
