The first Guild Faire was held in the Shire of Am Mor Salann Fasach on July 8, A.S. XIII. It was well attended by the shire folk as everyone came out to see the crafts and wares of the shire's many guilds.

The ladies of the Needlework Guild displayed many fine and delicate examples of needlecraft, tatting, embroidery, and needlepoint.

Next to the Needlework Guild, Dardya Christant of Dragonfire had come with a very fine collection of silver jewelry; rings and dragons in silver and gold with many beautiful precious stones, all handcrafted.

The Wizards' Guild was next with a display of their mysterious craft. For sale there was poison and the antidote as well as love potions. A book of spells collected by the wizards was also on display.

Across the hall the Luthiers Guild had a beautiful display of sweet voiced stringed instruments, crafted by Crispian of Quay and other guild members.

The Armorers' Guild under Sir Robert's direction had set up a fine display of fighters' armor made by the fighters themselves, including a newly made helm for sale.

The Herbalist Guild set up a display of herbs used in making sachets and examples of herb dyed wool, done by Arwen. There were also several differently scented sachets on sale as well as four kinds of iced herbal teas.

The Ladies for Chivalry displayed a padded gambeson and there were also several war games set up by Alaric.

A simple but cool potluck meal was set up on one table and due to the heat of the day was well received by all.

After everyone had had a chance to wander thru the displays the tables were pushed back and a new game called Cat and Mouse was introduced to the shire. Several rounds of Cat and Mouse were followed by that most favored of games, Clench-a-Wench.

When the games were finished at evening's end a closing court was held and awards made. The autocrat, Charles of Galway presented a $5.00 prize for the best display to the Luthiers Guild. The List of Chivalry went to Thor Gladenski of Dragonfire and the List of Grace to Kathryn of Land's End.

A good time was had by all at this first Guild Faire of Am Mor Salann Fasach and thanks go to all the guilds and their members for helping to make such a fine fair.

          Your servant,
          Katlin of Erynfel
