The Archery Tourney at Ye Rustic Weekend was a success to all of us who went. We had a wonderful time watching the skilled in our shire hit that bullseye. The winner was Mikaru Sakura [Sakura Kita no Maikeru] our Archery Guild leader. He won a beautiful quiver which is intended as a traveling trophy, which will have each winner's name engraved on it.

The ladies also had a competition in which there was a race run, a flirting contest, etc. Lady Rhonwen y Llysieuydd won as Quintessence of the Ultimate Amalgam of Illicit Loveliness (or Q.U.A.I.L) and received a beautiful tatted Juliet Cap tatted by Bevin of a Thousand Songs (this piece was her journeyman's piece in the Needlework Guild).

Later in the afternoon a lunch box auction was held and hopefully everyone was well satisfied (especially that person who bought two). Zelph de Darwehsure made a fine showing in the javelin throwing contest after lunch. And in the treasure hunt Crispian of Quay and Willa Myopia made an excellent team.

Best of all the revel came in the form of the feast. It was a magnificent spread which tasted wonderful. A special thanks to Genevieve's parents who did a lot of the cooking.

The evening's activities were brought to a close with quarterstaving, the winner being Cormak na Gunn, who won a belt buckle. Lady Rhonwen and Lady Jerilyn made an interesting showing in the quarterstaving (and claim they want to keep it up.) Things were finally finished off with a short game of Clench-a-Wench and with a closing court.

All of us went home tired and happy after a full and fun day.

Also at this event, Sir Robert de Spencer took two squires--Michael the Lucky and Cormak na Gunn.

Meistres Rhonwen welcomes others who were there in the early days adding their reminiscences--after over 30 years, her memory is a bit faulty, and much information has disappeared in the fog. E-mail her at julia.west@REMOVETHIS.sff.net.
