Star Trek: The Next Generation: A Time to...
"As Trek novels go, A Time For War, A Time For Peace is a paradox; it's low-key but gripping; it's character-driven but most of the cast are strangers. There's no space battles, very little tech, but by making an imaginary future real enough to believe in for a while, it's genuine SF."

Star Trek: The Next Generation
A Time to...

A Time for War, a Time for Peace by Keith R.A. DeCandido

a nine-book series by Keith R.A. DeCandido, Robert Greenberger, David Mack, John Vornholt, and Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore on sale now from Pocket Books

The movie Star Trek Nemesis took place a good four years after the final episode of Deep Space Nine, and two years after the end of Voyager. In that time, we saw that William Riker and Deanna Troi had decided to get married, Data had apparently lost his emotion chip, Beverly Crusher had accepted the job as head of Starfleet Medical, Riker was offered his own command, and Worf was back in Starfleet after a term as Federation Ambassador to the Klingon Empire.

"A Time for War, A Time for Peace is as impressive as it is satisfying in every respect."
---Jacqueline Bundy, Trek Nation
Pocket's big publishing event of 2004, running from February to October, is the A Time to... nine-book miniseries, which chronicles the year leading up to Nemesis and using the Book of Ecclesiastes as the basis for the individual book titles. What happened on the Enterprise-E during that time? What led Riker, Crusher, and Worf to their momentous decisions? Why did Data give up the emotion chip? And what was Wesley Crusher doing at the Riker/Troi wedding anyhow?

"From start to end, War/Peace is a fascinating and thrilling look at the Federation, the Enterprise, and the family that fans have followed for so many years. ... Certainly one to read again, and a novel that will be a perfect starter for the upcoming post-Nemesis TNG and Titan series. More valuable even than latinum!."
---Dan Berry, Book Trek
I am fortunate enough to be writing the grand finale, after four excellent writers/writer teams set it all up. Here's the full list: My finale will include the Enterprise being given an inspection tour, Riker and Troi making wedding plans, Worf struggling to keep the Federation-Klingon alliance intact, and a Federation Presidential election. Fun stuff.

"A Time for War, a Time for Peace is the jewel in Keith DeCandido's crown, superbly capping off the Next Generation saga in high fashion."
---Bill Williams, TrekWeb
SPECIAL FEATURE: I've created a page of annotations for A Time for War, a Time for Peace. These aren't necessary to follow the book, but do explain the various references in the novel. Be warned that this page contains a great deal of SPOILERS for, not just this novel, but assorted Trek novels, episodes, movies, short stories, comic books, and eBooks.

"It's refreshingly different, and a strong conclusion to a saga that's just hit its stride."
---Anthony Brown, Starburst #317
