This is a real dilemma that some have claimed to resolve, but no one really has a definitive answer (that everyone's happy with). The dilemma is this: DNA (genetic material) makes new proteins, and proteins provide the enzymes that can build new DNA. So which came first? This is the ultimate chicken-and-egg problem...

One solution to this is having both the proteins and the DNA(or RNA,PNA) made separately, perhaps by clay.
