Greatest Uncommon Denominator
magazine just posted their review of my collection Sparks and Shadows
. Overall, they seem to really like it, and I'm entirely pleased, because all this time I was pretty sure they were going to hammer me into oblivion ;-) No, really; they're a tough crowd over there, but reviewer Debbie Moorhouse sums up her review with "Dark, funny, and romantic by turns, Sparks and Shadows
is a must read. Go! Buy! Read!"
You can find the whole review here:http://www.gudmagazine.com/review/archive/2009/1/5/sparks-and-shadows-by-lucy-snyder/
... and if you scroll down to the very bottom, you'll see they're running a contest in which you can win your very own copy of the book. The contest ends January 20th at midnight PST.
One of the stories in Sparks and Shadows
that the reviewer remarked upon ("this macabre tale is gripping") is "Through Thy Bounty"; the story was also recently reviewed here:http://bestsciencefictionstories.com/2008/12/04/through-thy-bounty-by-lucy-a-snyder/
If you're curious to read "Through Thy Bounty", you can find it online at the Apex site:http://www.apexbookcompany.com/apex-online/2008/08/short-fiction-through-thy-bounty/
And in more GUD
news, Kaolin Fire told me on Friday that the magazine staff nominated my poem "Subtlety
" over at the Preditors & Editors Readers' Poll:http://www.critters.org/predpoll/poem.shtml
If you care to cast a vote for my poem or any other poem you read in 2008 and deemed worthwhile, your vote will be most appreciated.
