Astellus the Traveler (Konic) One of the four central deities of Skala. Assoc. with water, birth, death, passage to afterlife. Patron of fishermen. Called 'the Old Sailor'.

Astha (Aurënfaie)- lucky, luck bringing

Asurit betuth dös Aura Elustri kamar sösui. (Aur.) Powerfully binding Aurënfaie oath; "I swear loyalty by the power of Illior Lightbearer."

Atui (Aur.) Aurënfaie code of honor based on the inter relatedness of the individual with family, clan, etc.

Aura (Aur.) Monotheistic deity of Aurënen. See Illior.

Aura Elustri (Aur.) Illior Lightbearer

Aura Elustri málreis (Aur.) "Aura Lightbringer, protect him/her from evil." An Aurënfaie protective charm. Alt. endings: -ei me; -eil us; -on all of you/them.

Aurënen (Aur.) Homeland of the Aurënfaie. Lies on a large peninsula to the south of the Three Lands beyond the Ashek mountains.

Aurënfaie (Aur.) "People of Aura."

Bash'wai (Aur.) "The Ancients". Ghostly figures sometimes glimpsed or sensed at Sarikali; believed to be the city's original inhabitants.

Benshâl (Plenimaran) Capital city of Plenimar. Built on site of original Hierophantic capital and oldest existing city in the Three Lands.

Benshâl Fire (Plen.) Incendiary substance used in warfare, named for Plenimaran city of origin.

Colos (Aur.) Rooftop pavilion common to houses in Sarikali.

Dalna the Maker (Konic) One of the four central deities of Skala. Assoc. with earth, creation, health, disease, natural disasters.

Decuria (Sk.) Pl. decuriae. A unit made up of ten soldiers and a sergeant. Three decuriae form a turma, commanded by a lieutenant.

Dhima (Aur.) Sweat hut for meditation

Dra'gorgos (Plen.) Necromantic demon, able to assume its own form or animate dead matter.

Dravnians (Drav.) Primitive shepherd tribes of the Ashek Range.

Dwai sholo (Aur.) "Two bowls." Execution by poison.

Dyrmagnos (Old Plen.) Undead necromancer. A living corpse.

Erísmai (Aur.) "Farewell."

Ero (Sk.) Ancient capital of Skala, destroyed by Plenimarans.

Fai'thast (Aur.) Area occupied by a particular clan.

Garshil (Aur.) "Mongrel." Insulting term for half breed.

Hâzadriëlfaie (Aur.) Expatriate Aurënfaie who migrated to the mountains beyond Ravensfell Pass.

Hierophant (Konic) ancient theocratic rulers of the Three Lands.

Iia'sidra (Aur.) The ruling council of Aurënen.

Illior Lightbringer/Lightbearer (Konic) One of the four central deities of Skala. Assoc. with the unseen, imagination, prophecy, magic, insanity. See Aura.

Kar'makti (Plen.) Hummingbird tongue.

Luck in the shadows (Sk.) Catch phrase used by the Watchers and devotees of Illior.

Mardus, Duke of Plenimar (Plen.) Plenimaran noble and spy.

Marös Aura Elustri chyptir (Aur.) "Blessings and thanks on your name, Aura Lightbringer." Prayer of thanksgiving.

Plenimar (Konic) Oldest of the Three Lands. Lies on a peninsula between the Inner Sea and Gathwayd Ocean. Originally settled by the first Hierophant and his followers.

Ravensfell Pass (Nor.) A pass in the far northern reaches of the Ironheart Mountains. See Hâzadriëlfaie

Rei phöril tös tókun meh brithir, vrí sh'ruit'ya. (Aur.) "Though you thrust your dagger at my eyes, I will not flinch." A pledge of trust.

Reosu (Aur.) Paper lanterns filled with fireflies.

Rhíminee (Sk.) Capital city of Skala.

Rhui'auros (Aur.) Wizard priests of Sarikali.

Sakor of the Flame (Konic) One of the four central deities of Skala. Assoc. with fire, hearth, war.

Sarikali (Aur.) Sacred city of Aurënen.

Shatta (Aur) Small quiver ornaments used as gambling prizes.

Sen'gai (Aur.) Traditional Aurënfaie head cloth, varies in color and pattern according to clan affiliation.

Skala (Sk.) One of the Three Lands, it lies on a peninsula between the Inner and Osiat seas.

Soora thasáli (Aur.) Animal friendship charm: "Peace, friend hound."

Talí (Aur.) "Beloved", or "dear one". Term of endearment among family or lovers.

Talímenios (Aur) Homosexual mate.

Teth'brimash (Aur.) To be cast out of one's clan.

Teth'sag (Aur.) Vendetta, a feud between clans.

Tírfaie (Aur.) "People of short lives." Aurënfaie term for all humans.

Truth knower (Sk.) Wizard specializing in the reading of thoughts.

Turab (Aur.) Strong Bôkthersan ale.

Turma (Sk.) pl. turmae. A military unit composed of three decuriae and a lieutenant. Three turmae form a squadron, commanded by a captain.

Vhadä'nakori (Aur.) Dragon's Tarn. Located in Akhendi fai'thast.

Vhadäsoori (Aur.) Peaceful water- pool at center of Sarikali. Sacred meeting place.

Vhadä (Aur.) Water, spring, or tarn.

Virésse (Aur.) Clan and port city of northeastern Aurënen. Only city open to outside traders.

Voron (Plen.) Necromancer.

Ya'shel (Aur.) Half breed. Person of mixed heritage.

Ysanti bëk kir (Aur.) "Greetings, my friend." An informal greeting.

Ysanti maril Elustri (Aur.) "I greet you in the Light." Formal greeting.

Zengat (Z.) Mountainous nation bordering Aurënen and the west.
