Sunshine Coast

I live in the small town of Gibsons, on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. While Sunshine Coast residents do need to take a ferry to reach the city (Vancouver), we are not, as many people think, located on Vancouver Island. The Sunshine Coast is also known as the Sechelt Peninsula, and is joined to the mainland, though there is no useable road between the two.

When I look out my window I see lush evergreen rainforest. To one side of me is the island-dotted ocean, to the other, the snow-capped mountains. The descriptions sound trite, but the Coast is like something out of a fairy tale, or old, beloved story. If you were to see the Coast in a painting, you'd be convinced the artist was on happy drugs. I've called this area my home for most of my life, and though I've travelled pretty widely, I'm convinced that there is no more beautiful place on earth.
