... Notes

Keg Salad: The demo CD came back in February after being mastered by Mark Whitcomb of DNA Studios, Madison, Wis. We gave it a few spins at home and a few more at Clark Place while we sat around with a couple beers. Everyone who heard it had good things to say.
This demo was recorded during various sessions in mid-2005 at John Banta's home studio near Kellner, Wis. They are live takes, with the only bit of overdubbing done on "Gang's All Here" in order to save a recording that had the right degree of energy but one guitar gaff somewhere in it ... so I re-recorded my guitar line. (Posted by M.R. 1 March '06.)

Keg Salad has become a trio lately, with Marty Nellessen joining us on banjo. At our December show at Clark Place (Stevens Point, Wis.) he played close to half of the evening with us. We have steadily been working him into new numbers since then.
So now in addition to folk-rock originals, our smattering of tunes by the likes of Dylan, Lennon, Ray Davies and Patti Smith, and our other smattering of Irish/Scottish music, we are adding just a little bluegrass, and a few more numbers on the Irish/Scottish end of things. It has been fun ... and we are just starting to think about lining up shows again, after something of a hiatus.
Whether or not all shows will be trio shows is up in the air, since Marty's schedule gets busier in the summer.
Mad Melancholy Monkey Mind performed a show in December at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Not many students showed up, even though they could get in for free; it was getting close to finals. Martha and I played it as a duo show, as we have the last several M4 shows. A batch of friends showed up from the Wisconsin Rapids area, helping make it a good time. (Posted 11 Feb. 06)
