1964 LINCOLN RESTORATION PROJECT

     Take a second look.

I haven't had much in the way of restoration to report lately, but it's good news: I haven't been doing much to the car except driving it and enjoying it during the beautiful Kansas weather. We didn't have this many opportunities to drive a classic in Seattle (too much rain).

Some updates:

  • One longish trip up to Omaha for my brother's wedding. The car worked great! All the tuning, fiddling with springs, and cooling-system adjustments paid off. What a relief to just be able to drive and not think about what needs adjusting next.

  • NOS spare-tire cover.

  • Spare hubcap for the spare tire -- looks great in the trunk now, much more original-feeling. And an extra spare, just in case.

  • Some spares and parts to add when I have some time: a NOS water pump (!), stainless steel overflow container to replace the plastic tank, a cruise-control box (which needs to be adapted -- this car didn't have cruise when it was new),

  • New wheel bearings all around (though I still need to install them).

  • Some other things I can't recall offhand... I just wanted to post an update on how it's going.

I'll post more updates and pictures when I get the chance!

Lots of people have written me over the years asking advice and just offering comments about this part of my site. I'm working on a big ol' Tips and FAQ page which I've meant to post for far too long, so I have started compiling a Q&A of these discussions. I hope they help you enjoy your classic Lincoln!
