Husband Chris at Big Cedar Lodge outside Branson, Missouri (February 2006)

The folks at Big Cedar Lodge have some rather whimsical taxidermy.

More whimsical taxidermy

Burns Supper, January 2006
Burns Suppers are held all over the world in late January to commemorate Robert Burns' birthday. The Scottish Club of Tulsa always puts on a big bash. Chris is wearing the Brown family tartan, and the ribbon around his neck is the thistle award, the major service award given by the Scottish Club of Tulsa.

In June 2006, I taught for the second time in the University of Tulsa's four week study abroad program in Dublin, Ireland. The first time I taught there, I was just beginning to listen to Celtic music. The second time (four years later), I own somewhere around 100 CDs and it's pretty much all I listen to. This time around, I did a "musical tour," hitting some of the sites in my favorite songs.

Carrick-a-rede's famous rope bridge was originally strung seasonally by fisherman to reach a salmon run more safely than by boat. Centerpiece of Cathie Ryan's "Carrick-a-Rede" on her album, Somewhere Along the Road.

Carrick-a-rede in foreground and Rathlin Island in background. The haunting "Rathlin Island" is also on Cathie Ryan's Somewhere Along the Road.

The ruins of Glendalough (Glen of the two lakes) is home to one of the best preserved round towers and St. Kevin's Cross, and is the focus of The Elders' "St. Kevin" on their American Wake album.

K.D. Wentworth came to visit for 10 days, and we took the ferry to Inish Mor, one of the Aran Islands.

Giants Causeway is clearly geologically connected to Scotland's Staffa Island. The tour guide was very jealous to hear we'd been to Staffa the year before.

Chris took some great flower shots in Ireland, which I enhanced in Paint Shop Pro and turned into a series of greeting cards we use as fundraisers for our Gaelic Language and Music Weekend. This is my favorite.

Mystery, the eleven pound shih tzu/terrier mix, is terror of all squirrel and rabbit kind, and he's even chased the stray cat or two into the koi pond.
