Week Six

Okay, what's a Dare? It's a challenge for writers to produce a lot of material in a relatively short period of time. Previous Dares have been one month or three months in length, with the same result: the first draft of a book.

Check out the other Dare writers:

Camille LaGuire, Derek James, Kelly Searsmith, Lyda Morehouse, Rebecca Maines, Sarah Stegall, and T.M. Spell.

I'm in the process of adding new and old stuff to the fantasy novel. I have some fun ideas for a flashback and a new scene with the two kids who want more than anything to be in the gang. I'll let you know more tomorrow.

Today's Quote:

It had been January in one of the coldest winters ever when the first reports of the ships had begun flooding the news channels and Netstreams. Across the empty fields of southern Canada and Minnesota and Wisconsin, over thirty of their dainty, tired-looking ships had crash-landed over five years ago. Their arrival had turned the world inside out.

Finally got up at 5 a.m. again, after a couple weeks off to recuperate. I guess I just overdo things, pushing myself too far, trying to juggle too many things. Remember why I call this web site "Wrecked"? It's me, my state of mind, most of the time.

But at last I've had some positive results of my hard work/banging my head on the wall. A new online magazine is interested in publishing my story Breathing Trouble, as long as they can make a couple edits here and there. Fine with me! I just want to get the story out there so others can read it and enjoy it. It's an added bonus that the site pays pro rates. Sweet. I'll let you know how it goes - nothing is in concrete yet.

Also, I'm almost done revising Crossing the Camp, my SF story about the priest and the alien detainment camp for another pro-paying publisher. I'm hoping they like the changes and additions I made, including the short bit on the left. The editor had some really good questions he wanted answered, mostly about the history of the aliens and their arrival on earth. Stuff I should've added, but I wanted to keep the story very, very tight. I need to reread it one last time before sending it off again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Again, I'll let ya know as soon as I know.

And now I'm feeling up to jumping back into the fantasy novel. We'll see.
