The Taste of Pennies
-- A Fantasy Novel:

This began life as my first full-length fantasy story, written while I was teaching creative writing to my seventh graders in Nebraska. That was in 1992. I kept coming back to it over the years, until I finally finished it in 2001, writing the last 200 pages in a month. It's sort of urban fantasy mixed in with some good ol' swords 'n' sorcery, minus the swords.

Read an excerpt from the first chapter of The Taste of Pennies.

Fantasy Stories:

I've always enjoyed the genre of urban or contemporary fantasy, where magical things happen in the present, shaking up the "normal" world. Where appropriate, I've attached a link if a story has been published online. You can also check out my genre-less, chronological bibliography.
