Other works: Short stories

I began writing short stories at a very young age and they were my accustomed genre for years before I began writing novels. Most of the stories are in a sort of magical realism style, set in something resembling ordinary life but with a strong presence of unreality.

In 1995 my short story "Charon" was published in the small-press anthology Reader's Break, a publication from Pine Grove Press in New York.

My personal favorite work from this period is "The Morfis" (1992), a dreary little story inspired by far too many hours of listening to gothic music. I include this here as a sample of my early work.

I also include my story "And the Wind Blows It Back Again" (1994). At some point I hope to expand this story into a novel-length work; look for this as a future book.
