BIO

I was born in 1968 and have lived in the United States, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Mexico. Before falling back on science fiction, I worked as a ranch hand, horse trainer, backcountry guide, all-purpose tourist industry flunky, grade school art teacher, and (ahem, sorry) lawyer. My first novel, SPIN STATE (Bantam Spectra, 2003), was a finalist for the Philip K. Dick, John Campbell, Spectrum, and Prometheus Awards. My second novel, SPIN CONTROL (Bantam Spectra 2006), won the Philip K. Dick Award. I am currently working on two more books in the Spinverse. When not writing or reading science fiction, I spend an indefensible amount of my free time reading comic books, bolstered by the pathetically transparent excuse that I plan to someday to write a comic book of my own.

EVENTS

My family's life has recently been turned upside down by the arrival of a bouncing baby boy. Until he slows down or we get better at keeping up with him, I will not be attending Cons or giving readings. However, when I can come out and play again, I will put up a list of upcoming convention appearances on my not-exactly-a-blog at SFness.
