Peter Heck is the author of the critically acclaimed "Mark Twain Mysteries" from Berkley Prime Crime: DEATH ON THE MISSISSIPPI, A CONNECTICUT YANKEE IN CRIMINAL COURT, THE PRINCE AND THE PROSECUTOR, THE GUILTY ABROAD, THE MYSTERIOUS STRANGLER and TOM'S LAWYER.

Peter's newest book, his third science fiction title, is NO PHULE LIKE AN OLD PHULE, due from Ace Books in April 2004. Like the previous titles in the series - - A PHULE AND HIS MONEY and PHULE ME TWICE -- the new book continues Robert Asprin's "Phule's Company" series -- perhaps most succinctly described as "F Troop in Space." Peter is also a regular reviewer for Asimov's Science Fiction,. Besides the written word, his interests include music (playing lead guitar with Col. Leonard's Irregulars) and chess (founding member of the Chestertown Chess Club, and a USCF member).
