• Julie E. Czerneda - Julie is a friend, fellow writer, and also my editor. She is endlessly generous, unfailingly cheerful, and a hell of a good writer, too.
• S.L. Viehl - A friend and sometime mentor, Sheila also happens to be a fabulous writer. Her StarDoc series quickly became a staple on my comfort shelf, and is still what I turn to whenever I'm home sick.
• Holly Lisle - Holly's site has some great advice for the aspiring author. Much of what I know about the writing and submission process, I learned from this woman.
• Neil Gaiman - Neil is dark and twisted and howlingly funny. His journal is worth a read, even if you never pick up one of his books.
• Karina Sumner-Smith - Fellow Asimov Winner, Toronto author, and friend.

Places

• Bakka-Phoenix Books - From the moment I set foot in Bakka during first year university, I knew I'd be spending a great deal of time amongst those shelves. Now I work there. Go figure.
• Hands-On Bio - The second of my dream jobs that I actually managed to land (all I have to do is go full-time writer and I'm set). Work at Hands-On Bio at the Royal Ontario Museum is always hectic, always fun, and I still manage to learn a heap about Biology. Which is very good for the writing.

• Enter the Haggis - My absolute favourite live band, Enter the Haggis is a Toronto-based Celtic Rock group that sets the base tone for half of the Otherside stories. If you get the chance to check these guys out, do it. You'll be glad you did. Check out their website for audio and video clips.
