WALKING AROUND FLORENCE

“Il Duomo,” possibly the most magnificent of Florence’s monuments
Piazza della Republica
Grand Duke Cosimo I in the Plazza della Signoria.

Very close to a familiar piece of work.
Ponte Vecchio.  The story goes that the Grand Duke couldn’t stand the smell from the butchers and fish mongers that had their shops in the neighborhood, so he had them all evicted and ordered that only goldsmiths and jewellers could set up shop there.

It’s good to be the Grand Duke.
This is the courtyard of the Uffuzi, which used to be the offices of the Medici, built to be the seat of their particular government.
This is that statue of Macchiavelli I was talking about.
