The Author Says:
When I was growing up as an SF reader, I started to notice that whenever an author created an alien species where only one gender was sentient, it was inevitably the males that were sentient. This began to bother me, not only as a young feminist, but in terms of biology. Does it really make evolutionary sense that the person that is going to be protecting and nurturing the next generation of the species at its most vulnerable state can’t THINK?
Then there was the other extreme, all the stories that announced happily that if women ran the world, there would be no war.
PLAYING GOD is my answer to both.
