Modern Kansas City Fandom traces its origins to the founding of the Kansas City Science Fiction and Fantasy Society in July of 1971. But science fiction and fantasy have been here since fandom's infancy. From Robert A. Heinlein & Manley Banister to Elizabeth Scarborough & Robin Wayne Bailey, from the 1976 World Science Fiction Convention to the 1997 & 2002 Nebula Awards Weekends, and the 2003 World Horror Convention, science fiction is alive and well in Kansas City.
