More delightful than bizarre (but you never know!), the Car Talk site.
The Birdhouse went 404 on me. I'm really bummed. I loved the misunderstood song lyrics. I'll keep looking for it in case it migrated with no forwarding eddress.
Dr. Fellowbug's Laboratory of Fun and Horror also went 404
(well, its server seems to be up for sale), but I'm leaving it here
as a reminder to myself to see if it went elsewhere. It had a
version of Hangman in which wrong answers created a pile of severed limbs under the
dangling zombie.
Fun with Grapes--A Case
Study. How to create a spectacular light show in your microwave. Better than nuking
peeps--and fully illustrated.
The Exploding Macintosh Page also illustrates
an incendiary experience. PC bigots will enjoy it because it's a Mac they blow up. Mac users will
enjoy it because it's a Mac they blow up. Not sure if the page is still there...maybe the
server blew up?
Strawberry PopTarts as
incendiary objects. Gadzooks, people are blowing things up all over the place. And in college I
thought it was amusing to smoke french fries.
Mr. Edible Starchy Tuber Head.
This one is for Grace Darby, who didn't get a Mr. Potato Head the day her sister Merri fell down
and hurt herself.
Interactive Human Cadaver. I
know this sounds really alt.tasteless, but it's pretty cool: a body was sectioned and digitized, and
you can zoom in, manipulate the image, and so on. Sort of The Visible Man Online. Just be
warned: the dead guy looks really dead. It gave me a chill the first time I checked it
out. Netscape couldn't find the server last time I tried this. I really hope it's still
online somewhere.
Macabre Mania, a
marketplace for such handy Halloween items as caskets, ghoulish kitchens, haunted floors,
prosthetics, and electric chairs. Netscape couldn't find the server last time I tried this,
either, but I'm leaving the link for now. Plugging "Macabre Mania" into Alta Vista did generate
some interesting results.
Forensic
Entomology. Okay, I guess what I consider "educational" can be construed as pretty sick, but
this is another fascinating site: a chapter-by-chapter introduction to forensics, including how to
estimate time and cause of death.
The Department of Parareality went 404! Aieeee!!!!!
This link used to take you to the Shakespearean Insult Page, which I loved. Now it takes you to some useful and
fun archives and stuff. But I want the Shakespearean-insult generator back.
