NEWSFLASH!
AAARGH!!! I am so stupid!!! Have you any idea that all these months, I hadn't meant for you Netscape users to view my journal text in icky orange color?? Well, yeah, now you know! I had fallen into a bad habit of only using Windows Explorer (just being a lazy bum) to verify the integrity of my pages, and hadn't realized that somewhere along the way I had missed some HTML tags, and everything was flaming ugly orange! It was supposed to be black!
Well now you know. As I hang my head in shame, now you know. *grin*
We also now have a NAWticisms page! Check it out! I haven't linked to it from the main NAW page, but will soon....
Oh, and a huge congratulations to Chiara for some wonderful medical news! :-)

NEWSFLASH!
The first installment of August madness is over. I survived my first two weeks on my new job, and I really like it. And this weekend, I just came back from Watsonville in Northern or Central California (however you want to call it) where I watched my longtime college friend Janbie get hitched! The wedding was lots of fun, outdoors in a lovely seaside resort, and all my best college friends were there, so it turned out to be a mini-reunion of sorts. I drove up the 101 freeway, marveling at the green fields and verdant land of the central valley. It occurred to me at some point on the windy road, as green growth-encrusted cluffs towered on both sides of the road, and marvelous bushes and short trees lined the way -- I could really enjoy being a long distance delivery trucker. *grin* I love driving, fast (so I should be probably a UPS or Fed Ex trucker), and the longer the trip the better. I am perfectly alert. I'm one of those people who would never fall asleep at the wheel. :-)
Okay, that little fantasy is over.
Now, installment two of August madness remains -- NASFiC, and the release date of THE AGE OF REASON anthology. :-)
As soon as I got home this afternoon from Northern Cal (I left early and came home unusually early too), I took 5 rolls of film in to be developed. One of these rolls contains pictures of me on my Citizenship day, so yes, you will see it shortly. :-)
I suppose only a writer is odd enough to stop over at a post office during a road trip, to mail off a story manuscript. Yup, I did. ;-)
Talking about stories, I did just complete a brand new story last week, and it is as hard SF as I have ever written. What is it with me this year? I am writing... science fiction! Not fantasy, but SF! Eeeek! What's happening?
In any case, the story is off to its intended market... (this is a different one than the one mailed during my road trip).
Congratulations to our Tippi for selling a reprint of that same incredible story that won the Speculations Reader Poll, and is on the Preliminary Nebula Ballot, to a Polish language magazine Hyperion! Way to go, Tippster!! :-)
Lisa, so sorry to hear about your dad's restaurant being demolished! {{{{{Hugs!!!}}}} It may be gone, but its warm memories of childhood will always be with you. :-)
And it's great to see that Diana's dog Zeus has not eaten Diana's man Kent. :-)
Huge congratulations to Steve for finishing the draft of his novel SILENCE! Now, start rewriting! *grin* Steve also has today's NAWticism: "That's the essential role of a writer: you slice out a piece of yourself and slap it down on the desk in front of you."

Ok, I promised you a picture of me on my Citizenship Day. Here I am, in my sari-like thing. It actually looks more like one in real life, but oh well, this is the only full-length pic I got.... :-)
