NEWSFLASH!
All right, here is a summary of July, another insanely hectic month in a year of madness and overwork.
Mom's chemotherapy sessions are coming to a close, and then she gets a CT-scan, and the hernia operation follows (probably some time in the middle of August). She is doing reasonably well, and also her abdominal wound is almost closed up now, which is a huge plus. It was a relief to have them take back the suction vac machine this week.
Evermore by Modean Moon, in a gorgeous hardcover edition, is available now. Get your copy today… you know you want one… :-)
Best New Romantic Fantasy 2 got a wonderful review from Publishers Weekly:
"By turns deliriously romantic and richly melancholic, Guran's second anthology (after Best New Paranormal Romance) reprints 15 stories originally published in 2006 that explore the phantasmagoria of fantastic romance. Guran's shift from Paranormal Romance to Romantic Fantasy means selections do not necessarily deal with the establishment or continuance of a relationship, signaling increased efforts to appeal to fantasy readers. Standouts include three seaside treats: M. Rickert's breath-stealing ghost tale, Journey into the Kingdom; Sonya Taaffe's hypnotic The Depth Oracle; and Sandra McDonald's wistful story about a young mother's yearnings concerning The Mountains of Key West. Also notable are Angela Boord's bittersweet woodland fairy dream, Evergreen; Vera Nazarian's bright delight, The Story of Love; and Delia Sherman's gorgeous Parisian ode to the addictive charms of La Fée Verte. While these offerings from an impressive crew of fantasy heavyweights may not be jam-packed with happy-ever-afters, they explore the many worlds of fantastic romance with passion and panache."

Over at Medlar Comfits, the gracious Anna Tambour has some very kind words to say for Norilana Books in her essay "Finding gems in the crush of books".
Earlier this month I've resold my new Compass Rose story "Niola's Last Stand" (it got orphaned when Pitch-Black went under and never released the second Lords of Swords anthology) to the new 'zine Cats With Wings edited by Eleanor Skinner of Flights of Fantasy Bookstore, to be in the October 2007 issue.
Another couple of Author Tour Stops were posted recently, one with Robert J. Sawyer (back in May) and another with Ben Peek this week. Check them out, some excellent stuff.
As of this moment Norilana Books has 94 titles in print. Coming in August, the continuation of our reprint series of wonderful novels by Modean Moon, including the trade paperback edition of Evermore and the hardcover release of A Little Peace And Quiet, another intense and suspenseful love story that sends goose bumps down your spine and presents a mystery of an ancient bones, a treasure of priceless Native American artifacts, and a love across time. Once again, I am very proud and excited about the cover jacket for this title.
Oh, and guess what? This time last year, give or take a day, I was filing the legal paperwork for Doing Business As "Norilana Books" and taking other steps to start this publishing business. Which means tomorrow, August 1st marks the first-year anniversary of Norilana Books!
Wow...
Wait till you see what kind of exciting announcements are in store next month! Stay tuned! *Muahahahaha!*
